How to Find Opportunities on SAM.gov

SAM.gov is the federal government’s primary public opportunity source. Good searches use geography, notice type, set-aside, dates, NAICS, and specific service or product terms.

Build a focused search

Start with what the company can deliver. Add relevant keywords and NAICS codes, then narrow by state, deadline, notice type, and set-aside rather than browsing every federal notice.

Read the notice and attachments together

The summary is not the solicitation. Download and review the statement of work, clauses, wage determinations, pricing schedule, amendments, and submission instructions.

Verify the submission path

Confirm the contracting contact, response deadline and time zone, delivery method, representations, required forms, and whether questions must be submitted earlier.
